Red Cross seeks blood donors

Hundreds of Red Cross blood drives have been cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy, representing a loss of thousands of blood and platelet products. The Red Cross is asking people who are eligible, especially in places not affected by the storm, to schedule a time to give blood in the days and weeks to come.
Ceretto hosts charity drive for communities devastated by 'Super Storm' Sandy

Assemblyman John Ceretto is hosting a charity drive for downstate communities devastated by "Super Storm" Sandy. Supplies are being collected at Ceretto's office, located at 1700 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls, on Friday, Nov. 9, and Tuesday, Nov. 13. Collected items will be assembled in Albany and shipped to Staten Island, Queens and Long Island later next week.

Those looking to vote in the Village of Lewiston on their way home from work should take note: Those who live in districts 1, 3 and 13, and who plan to cast their ballot at Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1, can enter at the back of the firehall (North Fifth Street, behind First Niagara Bank). The front of the building is currently under construction.

The Town of Lewiston has news with regards to the Academy Park ice rink operations for the upcoming winter season. Leading off, the town reported at its Oct. 22 meeting it had reached agreement with national operator Ice Rinks 2 Go to manage a 60-day operation schedule for this winter at the Academy Park rink.
