Carmen A. Granto of Niagara Falls has been elected chairman of the board of trustees of Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center. Granto, the retired superintendent of schools of the Niagara Falls School District, replaces Sr. Margaret Tuley, DC, who has served as board chair since 2003.

Starting next month, the Village of Lewiston Board of Trustees will have two new members. Democrat Dennis Brochey (197 votes) and Republican Nick Conde (129 votes) bested incumbents Ernie Krell (Republican, 79 votes) and Therese Mudd (Democrat, 74 votes) in Tuesday's election.
Artpark, Village of Lewiston call truce in parking dispute

On Tuesday, just hours before the first "Tuesday in the Park" concert at Artpark, a public parking dispute was quietly resolved. Artpark & Company board of directors Chairman Chris Brown and Village of Lewiston Mayor Terry Collesano met and ironed out an agreement wherein the $5 charged to concertgoers parked on the Portage Road plateau will be evenly split between the two sides.

The "Road Bros," one of Rand McNally/USA Today's Best Small Towns in America travel teams, will receive a police escort down Center Street to a gathering at The Silo Restaurant. There, they'll find a "rousing welcome."

Local students from LaSalle Preparatory School in Niagara Falls, St. Peter's R.C. School in Lewiston, and the Community Charter School and Elmwood Village Charter School in Buffalo are joining daredevil Nik Wallenda and his team Thursday, June 14, at 10:30 a.m. for a unique, behind the scenes look at the science behind his historic walk across Niagara Falls. The event is taking place at the walk site, Terrapin Point on Goat Island, and also includes a student Q-and-A opportunity with Wallenda and representatives from the companies that built and set up the walk's rigging.
