Grisanti sponsors, passes bill requiring one NYPA trustee to be from Niagara County

State Sen. Mark Grisanti, R-60th, sponsored and passed a bill that is designed to change the makeup of the New York Power Authority to include a resident of Niagara County. The bill, co-sponsored by Sen. George Maziarz, R-62nd, amends the public authorities' law to provide that the NYPA board of trustees, appointed by the governor with the approval of the Senate, must contain one trustee who is from Niagara County and one who is from St. Lawrence County.

Lewiston-Porter Air Force Junior ROTC will host its third annual Cadets vs. Faculty basketball game on Friday, March 9, at 7 p.m. in the high school gym. The money raised by the cadets during the game will be used for an April field trip to Fort Drum. The Lewiston-Porter Players in Progress will perform and the cadets will hold a basket raffle and sell concessions during the game.

Dr. Glenda R. Rose and Dr. Thomas G. Barba and the staff of Rose Chiropractic in Lewiston held their 22th annual "Doctors with a Heart Day" on Saturday, Feb. 11. Chiropractic adjustments and examinations were exchanged for donations of food collected to benefit the Niagara Community Action Program's food pantry.

Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, and State Sen. George Maziarz, R-C-I-Newfane, today welcomed the news that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will be transferring the 235 drums from the LeRoy Superfund site to a hazardous waste facility in Michigan. The materials had previously been destined for Lewiston before Maziarz and Ceretto intervened.
