Mount St. Mary's Hospital announced a new initiative Tuesday that will allow patients to trade doctor's office visits for Web chats. The health center's new "online care" program is a hybrid between a traditional house call and an Internet chat. It's designed to provide faster, more affordable care.

When my friend Kate invited me on a trip to Pamplona for the San Fermin Festival (or "Running of the Bulls," as we refer to it), with her brother, Patrick, and his girlfriend, Leyla, I couldn't pack my white clothes and red scarf fast enough! In preparation for the trip I hopped on Amazon.com and bought all the Pamplona books I could find (a grand total of three). Each described the all-night parties, the all-white attire, and bacchanalian nature of the festival, but none prepared me (and us) for the realities of Pamplona.

The Village of Lewiston Recreation Department and the Lewiston Historical Museum are joining together to present their second "Clothesline Series" of Lewiston photos from the past. These images will be on display on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lewiston Red Brick Gym, 145 N. Fourth St.

This week's Youngstown Garden Club "Yard of the Week" selection is the teamwork of Kevin and Dawn Stanisz. He says he does the landscaping and she does the gardening. Speaking of teams, their garden also displays their support for Dawn's Yankees and Kevin's Raiders.

Starting Thursday, Sept. 15, and continuing for six weeks, Mount St. Mary's will present the "CHEERS Program" ("Choosing Healthy Eating and Exercise Routines for a Healthier Life"). This program teaches children and their families simple eating and exercise plans, which they can internalize and use throughout life.

Here's another happy story I want to share with you. On a recent trip to NYC, I was shopping in midtown (I know, shocking), and looking for a taxi to return to my hotel in Tribeca. It was late afternoon, when all the drivers are changing shifts, and it's very difficult to find a taxi at this time of day. It's common for an available town car to stop and ask taxi-seekers if they want a ride for a slightly elevated price.

British and American forces will once again struggle for control of Old Fort Niagara during the site's "War of 1812 Encampment," set for Labor Day weekend. The event will feature tactical demonstrations at 3 p.m. each day, musket and cannon firings, uniform programs and living history camps that depict life on the Niagara Frontier during the War of 1812.
