'Mysteries at the Museum' at Old Fort Niagara

This past week, a film crew from the television program "Mysteries at the Museum" (Travel Channel) spent the day at Old Fort Niagara filming a segment on "The William Morgan Affair."
Village of Lewiston to still hold rec center public forum

While the Village of Lewiston has tabled plans to build a new, multimillion-dollar recreation center, trustees have opted to go forward with a previously scheduled public forum. Those for and against the idea (or possible locations) are invited to attend a 6 p.m. meeting tonight in the Red Brick Municipal Building gym, 145 N. Fourth St.

Architect David Giusiana will present the plateau design, which was first unveiled on Friday. Mayor Terry Collesano will read a prepared statement, and trustees will add all comments to the public record.

Village of Lewiston recreation center proposal shelved

In a surprising turnabout Saturday, the Village of Lewiston has shelved the recreation center proposal. Gary Hall, who was to spearhead project financing, has withdrawn himself from the project.

Despite a press release late Thursday afternoon stating WTS President and CEO Gary Hall has elected to pull his proposed recreation center out of Lewiston, officials in the village are still confident a deal can be reached. Mayor Terry Collesano was set to speak with Hall to find out if the plan can be saved.

As we eagerly anticipate what's to come in 2012, we now look back at what was 2011. It was certainly memorable, with changes, countless ones, on a global, national, local, and even a personal scale.

For some it was a year of high expectations, some achieved. For others it might have been frustrations, possibly loss. You can say one thing though - we were all impacted by the events that occurred in the last year in some form or another.

A festive atmosphere hovered over the Lewiston-Porter Board of Education meeting as students performed, people were recognized, and gifts from donors received.

A group of third-graders performed several traditional Christmas carols and the entire room joined in on "We Wish You a Merry Christmas." Student carolers, under the direction of Nicole Mosier, included Elizabeth Teal, Maya Marcyan, Makenna Barrientos, Emma Sand, Nathan Rhodes, Olivia Naughton, Julia Thomas, Meghan Baio, Graciana Auer, Ciaran Edwards, Alexandra Lee, Ellie Phillips, Jaden Lombardo and Isabella Tolliano.
