LPHS students compete at Tech Wars

Grand Island High School was the overall winner of the 2011 Tech Wars competition held on Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Niagara County Community College. The Vikings won for the second consecutive year with 49 points, finishing ahead of 2009 champion Lockport, which had 27 final points. Tonawanda City and Williamsville tied for third place with 22 points.
Ceretto named ranking GOP member on Cities Committee, opens new district office

State Assemblyman John D. Ceretto, I, R, 138th District, Lewiston, announced he has been appointed as the ranking Republican member of the Assembly Committee on Cities by Assembly Republican Leader Brian M. Kolb R, I, C-Canandaigua. Ceretto will also serve on the Election Law, Environmental Conservation, Housing and Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development committees.
Barton Hill Hotel offers new spa experience

Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours: Planning Board OKs project

While audience participation was significantly different than one month ago, the end result was the same. The Village of Lewiston Planning Board unanimously approved Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours' President John Kinney's request to build a two-story addition to the U.S. home of his binational company.

Included among the vast amount of logistical items were: numerous appointments; salary schedules; holiday schedules; the setting of Town Board meetings; town fees; miscellaneous authorizations; the setting of Town Board committees and liaisons; plus procurement and cash management policies.

The Village of Lewiston Planning Board will have two Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours expansion designs to consider when it meets Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the Red Brick Municipal Building. WJBT President John Kinney, upon consultation with Silvestri Architects, commissioned a second plan that shows 10 feet shaved off the north side of his proposed development.
Village of Lewiston: New Artpark exit strategies discussed

At Monday's Village of Lewiston Board work session, Police Commissioner Al Soluri said he and Mayor Terry Collesano recently met with representatives from the New York State Parks Police, Lewiston Police Department and Artpark & Co. administration. Soluri indicated all parties have a vested interest in more efficiently moving traffic out of Artpark following the "Tuesday in the Park" summer concert series.

The Village of Lewiston Recreation Department will sponsor bingo for adults (ages 16 years and older) on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, starting at 6:30 p.m., in the gym of the Village of Lewiston Red Brick Municipal Building, North Fourth and Onondaga streets.
