Modern donates to Relay For Life

Modern Corporation recently donated $1,000 and in-kind services to the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life, which took place at the running track behind Lewiston-Port High School on June 12. Relay For Life honors those who have won the battle with cancer, those who have lost, and those whose fight is just beginning.
Lewiston Library Friends' book sale nears

Subcommittee OKs $9.5 million for Slaughter's Niagara Falls Base funding plan

U.S. Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, NY-28, announced last week that more federal money could be on the way for the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. The funds would go toward building a Joint Operations Center helping the air base follow guidelines set forth by the BRAC Commission in 2005.

Niagara County amateur radio operators assisted in radio communications during the recent 10K run on the Tuscarora Nation. Amateur radio operators were stationed at various checkpoints to provide emergency communications for the runners if needed.

Fillmore Chapel United Methodist Church in Ransomville has just appointed a new pastor following the retirement of the Rev. Les Drayer. Anne Cole will serve as Fillmore Chapel's first female pastor.
