Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced 50-year-old Daniel A. Martinez of Amherst pleaded guilty this afternoon before Acting Erie County Court Judge Andrew C. LoTempio to one count of attempted murder in the second degree (class "B" felony). The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge in full satisfaction of the indictment against him.

The Erie County Department of Social Services is announcing that their Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) will be temporarily relocating from its current location at 95 Franklin St., second floor, to 290 Main St., sixth floor, Buffalo. This move is effective starting Monday, July 22, and is due to essential renovation efforts.

Officials announced today that Appeal 2024, in support of Catholic Charities of Buffalo and the "Fund for the Faith," raised a total of $8,002,705 in cash and pledges, representing 84% of its $9.5 million goal. Appeal 2024 was launched in January and concluded June 30.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced progress toward enhancing Buffalo Harbor State Park with work underway on $47.5 million in new upgrades to the park. Keane announced his office recently helped restore rightful ownership to a 77-year-old Vietnam War veteran who nearly lost his home in a deed theft scheme. Earlier this month, our office successfully argued a motion in State Supreme Court, which validated the victim's property ownership after a scammer attempted to fraudulently sell his property with a falsified document.

DiTullio to one count of criminally negligent homicide (class "E" felony). The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge, the highest sustainable homicide charge, in full satisfaction of the indictment.

The Erie County Medical Examiner's Office received reports of seven overdose-related deaths over a six-hour period on Monday, June 17. Investigations and toxicology tests will confirm the drugs involved in these deaths, but preliminary reports indicate that each scene is suspected to have a form of cocaine (crack or powder) present.

A young man who grew up on a farm on Grand Island and who died in combat in France at the age of 22 was remembered Sunday at a ceremony held 80 years after his death. He was honored at the park named for him, DeGlopper Memorial Park, with a rifle salute and with a military helicopter flyover during the event.
