As the nation continues to be captivated by James Holzhauer - the million-dollar man on "Jeopardy!" - it was Sandy Blackwell Yates who put on a show Saturday night at the Brickyard Brewing Company. She captained her team to a resounding victory in "Lewiston Jeopardy," earning a large trophy and the applause of an impressed audience.

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos announced the first Saturday in May marks the beginning of the fishing season for several popular coolwater sportfish species, including walleye, northern pike, pickerel and tiger muskellunge. He noted the coolwater conditions of early spring can render walleye and northern pike fishing particularly good, and anglers are encouraged to take advantage of the many opportunities New York has to offer.

As part of the recent "Shop Hop" event in Lewiston, the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce held a contest to name the Easter Bunny. More than 70 entries were submitted. The Chamber of Commerce staff had a hard time deciding what name would be best. After much consideration, the winning name is "Mary Hoppins."

Congressman Brian Higgins and Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz were joined by Buffalo City Court Judge Craig Hannah to announce a new federal grant to expand services and support for Buffalo Opioid Intervention Court (OIC) participants. The $2 million award to the Erie County Department of Mental Health, provided through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, brings a community care management model of services to the court. It will expand the court's ability to serve more people.

Swartz and Associate Chief of Staff for research and professor of medicine, anesthesiology and environmental health at the University of Buffalo Dr. Ali El-solh, to announce federal grants from the Department of Veterans Affairs supporting three separate research projects at the Buffalo VA Medical Center. The three grants represent a total of $2,413,635 in funding awarded to the Buffalo VA.

The Brain Injury Association of New York State (BIANYS) has received a major grant from the New York State Health Foundation (NYSHealth), which will fund a two-year project called "Improving Concussion Management for New York State Students."
