Girl Scouts of Western New York Summer Camp registration is now open for all girls in grades K-12. Summer camp is a way for girls to explore leadership, build skills, and develop a deep appreciation for nature. Whether for a day, a week, or longer, Girl Scout camp gives girls an opportunity to grow, explore, and have fun in an all-girl environment under the guidance of caring, trained adults.

The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo - a local nonprofit organization committed to helping individuals, families and organizations make their charitable goals a reality - is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2019. To mark this milestone, the Community Foundation will award $1 million in honor of 12 local change-makers who have made a difference in the lives of Western New Yorkers. Voting will occur through a communitywide nomination process.

The University at Buffalo-led initiative to generate 100 megawatts of on- and off-site renewable energy hit a milestone today with the issuing of requests for proposals. RFPs went out for on-site installations at each of the five partner institutions in the project: UB, SUNY Buffalo State, SUNY Erie, the City of Buffalo and Erie County.

As freezing temperatures plague much of the country, electric vehicle owners may experience a decrease in driving range, compounded by the use of the vehicle's interior climate control. New research from AAA reveals that, when the mercury dips to 20°F and the HVAC system is used to heat the inside of the vehicle, the average driving range is decreased by 41 percent. This means that, for every 100 miles of combined urban/highway driving, the range at 20°F would be reduced to 59 miles.
