Biden joins McMurray at campaign stop in Buffalo

Nate McMurray, Democrat and Working Families Party candidate in NY-27, was joined Thursdays by former Vice President Joe Biden at The Olive Tree, where the two greeted voters and talked about McMurray's campaign for Congress. Biden was a guest speaker at the University at Buffalo.

African-Americans are four times more likely to experience chronic kidney disease and failure than Caucasians. Kidney transplants have more than doubled in recipients above 65 years of age from 2000-08. And the prevalence of end-stage renal disease, or kidney failure, in the U.S. has continued to increase, particularly among elderly patients and African-Americans.
AAA: New vehicle technologies double repair bills for minor collisions

According to new research from AAA, vehicles equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning and others, can cost twice as much to repair following a collision due to expensive sensors and their calibration requirements.

National Grid forecasts lower energy bills for Western New York customers this winter

National Grid's winter heating season forecast calls for its Western New York residential electric customers to see electricity bills that are approximately 6.9 percent lower than last year, assuming a typical winter. The lower bills are based on forecasted decreases in wholesale supply prices during the Nov. 1 through March 31 winter heating season.

It's been a crazy year for the Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons football team. From wins, losses, tiebreakers and a death close to the team, the team has seen a mixture of everything. On Thursday night, the team ended it's fall campaign with a fulfilling sense of closure. The Falcons defeated Williamsville East in the Class A Chuck Funke Bowl finals, 22-8.

Jacobs delivers $300,000 for Tonawanda sidewalk replacements

New York State Sen. Chris Jacobs joined Highway Superintendent Tom Jones to announce he has secured $300,000 in state funding to support new sidewalks in various locations throughout the Town of Tonawanda. The funding will enable the town to replace approximately 31,000 square feet of damaged or dangerous sidewalk.

The Erie County Department of Social Services is celebrating the move of HEAP and Emergency Services Offices to 460 Main St., Buffalo, after years of overcrowding and other building issues at the old HEAP Office, located at 478 Main St. More than 90,000 Erie County households seek help annually with heating their homes and with other emergency needs such as shelter and utility arrears, evictions, security agreements, moving and storage assistance, all of which will now be coordinated through the offices at 460 Main.
