NU School of Nursing offers first classes at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center

Niagara University and Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center on Wednesday launched a new partnership to improve educational opportunities for registered nurses by offering NU School of Nursing credit courses on the medical center's downtown campus. The courses will enable registered nurses enrolled as students to earn a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree.
Ortt helps secure education aid for Niagara County museums

On Wednesday, New York State Sen. Rob Ortt presented $40,000 in education funds to five local museums from across Niagara County for improvements in educational programs currently offered, as well as the addition of new educational resources. Joining the host of the event, the Niagara Aerospace Museum, was the Herschell Carousel Factory Museum, the Historical Society of North German Settlements in WNY, the Historical Association of Lewiston, and the Sanborn Area Historical Society.
ESD announces $510,000 in awards for Oath's Community Benefit Funds for Niagara County, Lockport

Empire State Development on Tuesday announced the recipients of funding for Oath's Community Benefit Fund for Lockport and Oath's Yahoo Community Fund for Niagara County - Empire State Development. For the 2018 funding cycle, $510,000 was awarded to 20 projects. Each year from 2015-21, Oath has committed to granting $500,000 to community organizations in Lockport and the surrounding areas.

Today's national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $2.84, no change from last week. One year ago, the price was $2.36. The New York state average is $2.99, down a penny since last week. New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation announced Thursday that work will soon begin to restore natural habitats in several sites along the Niagara River, which was named an "Area of Concern" by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 1987.
