The group sought to look at different approaches to homeless services, as it is reviewing its current programs and management, and looking for new strategies to implement.
Construction begins on new Seneca Babcock Community Center

Construction is underway to build a new Seneca Babcock Community Center in the heart of South Buffalo, a 12,600-square-foot facility that will serve underprivileged families. Site work begins at the new community center, located at 82 Harrison St., Buffalo, on Tuesday morning.

The Run4Leah/CureNF Team will participate in its 11th annual Cure NF fundraiser at the Buffalo Marathon on Sunday, May 27. The Manth family of North Tonawanda will be joined by hundreds of volunteers, runners and supporters to run or walk to find a cure for neurofibromatosis (NF) in the full marathon (26.2 miles) or half marathon (13.1 miles). There is also a 5K on Saturday, May 26.

ECHDC announces art exhibition by renowned artist to be installed on Outer Harbor

The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp. board of directors met Monday and announced world-famous artist Robert Indiana's work "NUMBERS ONE through ZERO" will be installed on temporary exhibition on Buffalo's Outer Harbor. The 10 eight-foot-high COR-TEN steel sculptures, weighing close to 2,000 pounds apiece, will be placed at Wilkeson Pointe in early June and on loan until October 2019. The board approved a contract with the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, which will facilitate the loan and exhibition of this monumental work of public art.

The event took place at the Workers Memorial Monument in Reservoir Park, located just off Route 31 at the base of the New York Power Authority reservoir. Workers, their friends and families, attended the ceremony, which was emceed by Labor Liaison Bill Jakobi.
