USAN board acquires waterfront property

The USA Niagara Development Corp. (USAN) board of directors met Wednesday and approved the acquisition of a property in Niagara Falls with "spectacular" views of the rapids and easy access to downtown and the Niagara Falls State Park. The vacant parcel, at 101 Buffalo Ave., will be purchased for $1,100,000 utilizing Buffalo Billion II funds for the purpose of issuing a request for proposals (RFP) to develop the 1.20-acre site.

Village of Lewiston approves Hibbard's renovation, denies Art Council request

The second phase of expansion at Hibbard's Original Frozen Custard was approved Monday by the Village of Lewiston Board of Trustees. The Hibbard family was granted a special use permit for a 24-foot-by-13-foot concrete pad and customer queuing area with overhang canopy. This waiting spot will be located directly behind newly enlarged serving windows, which were previously approved.

Chris Jacobs, R-60th, has introduced legislation that would improve access to fertility preservation services for cancer patients whose treatments may directly or indirectly cause infertility. The bill, S7163, accomplishes this by requiring health insurance policies to provide coverage for standard fertility preservation prior to a patient beginning their recommended cancer treatments.
