Half of U.S. television homes and more than one-third of the country's population have watched the PyeongChang Olympics on the television networks of NBCUniversal, according to fast cume data provided by Nielsen. Through Sunday, 109.6 million viewers (in 59 million homes) have watched the Winter Games on NBCUniversal networks NBC, NBCSN, CNBC and USA (does not include digital).

In honor of Fat Tuesday - and as New Orleans celebrates its 300th anniversary in 2018 - it was announced Feb. 13 that the "Voodoo Threauxdown" headlined by Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, and featuring Galactic, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and New Breed Brass Band, will make its way to Lewiston. The performers will bring their touring street party to Artpark's "Tuesdays in the Park" on Aug. 14.

Even as Niagara County lawmakers begin the process of declaring opioids a "public nuisance" on Monday night, they also will be rolling out an aggressive push to train the public in use of Narcan, the powerful anti-overdose drug that is credited with saving the lives of victims of opiate overdoses.

The event is the continuation of an event that, for many years, was conducted by the Temple Beth Israel. In recent years, the leadership of the temple bestowed the fundraiser to Mount St. Mary's.

The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation announced a $1 million grant to the Niagara Community Center Inc. for the primary purpose of supporting the final construction phase of the center. The remaining funds will be used to strengthen the young organization. In recognition of the grant from the foundation, which was established through the generosity and visionary leadership of the late Ralph C. Wilson, Jr., the center will be renamed the "Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Niagara Community Center," effective immediately.
