The father and son teams of Lt. Col. (Ret) Patrick Soos and William Soos and Fahim Mojawalla and Yusuf Mojawalla are teaming up with the Pfc. Charles DeGlopper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9249, the Island Ship Center and Momma De's Mixing Bowl to encourage the community to build and ship a package of thanks and support to Grand Island military service members stationed across the world. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 2.

Piper Jr. opened a room jam-packed with historical Lewiston paintings, prints, engravings, newspaper articles and furnishings inside the Red Brick Municipal Building, he said it was just the beginning. True enough, when guests visit during the upcoming Tour of Homes/Christmas Walk weekend, they will find more than 3,000 items in the second-floor repository.

The Colvin Cleaners 22nd annual "Coats 4 Kids" program, sponsored by The Allstate Foundation and Fidelis Care, distributed a record 2,600 coats and several thousand pairs of gloves, hats and scarves on Saturday at its warehouse. Food donations from St. Peter R.C. School flow to needy families in community

During the month of November, St. Peter R.C. School students and families were busy participating in the school's annual food drive. Families were asked to give items such as cereal, pasta, peanut butter, canned goods and paper products, among other things. Donations were then given to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul for distribution to local needy families during the Thanksgiving season.
