The 16th annual Jazz Festival is set for Friday and Saturday, Aug. 25-26. Now known as the Northwest Jazz Festival, Lewiston, NY, and presented by Northwest Bank, the event is a jazz music lover's delight: a free, two-day event with more than 150 musicians lined up and down Center Street, with performances on a half-dozen stages.

Even though Buffalo will only see a partial eclipse on Monday, Aug. 21, people who want to view it must wear eclipse glasses or they will risk permanent blindness, according to Andrew Reynolds, M.D., clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo. He is an ophthalmologist with the Ross Eye Institute/UBMD Ophthalmology.
