Youngstown resident David Graf attended the Village Board meeting Thursday night with a replica of the Cold Storage unit in tow. Graf held a 30-minute presentation during the public portion of the meeting, explaining his desire to turn the facility on Third Street into a multipurpose theater and, ultimately, a performing arts academy.

Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015, just four days after he turned 41 years old, Brian Lee suffered a heart attack, the after-effects of which continue to pose problems for him. He was in the hospital for a month and had to undergo dialysis for kidneys that weren't functioning fully. During the hospital stay, he lost feeling in his legs and couldn't walk.

The mayor's office and the North Tonawanda Waterfront Commission are seeking volunteer cleanup groups and individuals to meet at 9 a.m. at the large pavilion at Mayor's Park on Sweeney Street. Supplies, including rakes, gloves, and trash bags, will be provided to all volunteers by the North Tonawanda Recreation and Parks Department.

Following a half-dozen work sessions, the Village of Lewiston Board of Trustees is poised to present to the public a 2016-17 budget with no tax increase. The tax rate is set to remain at $7.38 per $1,000 of assessed valuation. The sewer rate ($4.64 per 100 cubic feet) and the water rate ($3.54 per 100 cubic feet) also are expected to remain the same.
