The Jack Beatty Memorial Cruise and Clambake, held July 10 to benefit Niagara Hospice, continued its tradition of entertainment, food and leisurely sailing and power boating in the lower Niagara River. Now in its 16th year, the event raised a record amount of $41,989.34, which was presented to Niagara Hospice on Wednesday.

At a quarter to 8 p.m. Friday, about 100 people - mostly women, and many breast cancer survivors - joined together to form a "Living Ribbon" across the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls. Participating in Hard Rock Café Niagara Falls USA's PINKTOBER celebration, these pink pashmina-clad people linked arms in the fight against breast cancer, and to show support for those fighting the loathsome disease.

In front of a large group at the start of the Oct. 4 CROP walk at Beaver Island State Park, Edonyemya wrapped her head with colorful material, then Byaombe lifted the bucket and placed it on his wife's head.
