The New York Power Authority board of trustees approved an allocation of low-cost hydropower Tuesday to attract a new manufacturer to Western New York. WhiteRock Pigments is planning capital investments of $130 million for its construction of a facility in Tonawanda, which will lead to the creation of 101 permanent jobs.

Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman today announced his office sent cease and desist letters to several major retailers, including Wal-Mart, Amazon, K-Mart and others for allegedly selling prohibited toy guns online to residents of New York, and, in at least one case, in a K-Mart store in suburban Rochester.

The state Department of Health has completed its public health review of high-volume hydraulic fracturing. Acting DOH Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker recommended high-volume hydraulic fracturing should not move forward in New York. Zucker announced his findings and recommendations today at a cabinet meeting in Albany.
