Grisanti named 'Eco-Star' for environmental efforts

The New York League of Conservation Voters, which works to make environmental sustainability a top political and policy priority in New York, has named State Sen. Mark Grisanti, R-60th District, a 2013 "Eco-Star" for his work on environmental initiatives in Albany.
Christopher Brown, Anthony Eugeni named to Mount St. Mary's Hospital board of trustees

Christopher H. Brown, CPA, of Brown & Company Certified Public Accountants, and Anthony L. Eugeni, senior partner at Damon Morey Attorneys at Law, have been appointed to the board of trustees of Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center. Carmen A. Granto, chairman of the board, announced the appointments for three-year terms.
Artpark welcomes development director to administration team

George Osborne, president of Artpark & Company, announced today the appointment of Carrie Veltri to the newly created position of director of development.

In making the announcement, Osborne said, "Artpark is very fortunate to have attracted a person of Carrie's experience and expertise to this position. Our search committee, headed by Artpark board member Jane Mogavero, conducted a national search for this very important position, and we found the best candidate right here in greater Buffalo. Reid Capizzi to portray baby rescued during Tuscarora Heroes re-enactment

Reid Capizzi, pictured, infant son of Mike and Laura Suess-Capizzi of Lewiston, has been selected as the baby who will be part of the dramatic re-enactment that will take place during the unveiling of the Tuscarora Heroes Monument on Dec. 19. The re-enactment will depict the burning of Lewiston by the British in 1813, when Lewiston citizens ran for their lives down Center Street to escape.

Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman has announced a new effort to ensure all U.S. military veterans receive state property tax exemptions to which they are legally entitled under New York law. Schneiderman's office learned some veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were being wrongly denied a valuable property tax exemption to which they are entitled upon conclusion of their military service.

Town of Niagara: Steve Richards pleads not guilty in 28-count indictment

Town of Niagara Supervisor Steve Richards has vowed to clear his name in the 28-count indictment brought against him in State Supreme Court in Lockport last Friday.

A plea of not guilty was entered before Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. Since then, neither Richards nor his lawyer, Rodney Personius, nor town councilmen known to have been subpoenaed to testify during the preceding grand jury investigation have been willing to comment.
