Pediatric death in Niagara County linked to flu

Preliminary testing has indicated that the recent death of a Niagara County child may be related to a combined influenza and serious bacterial infection, the Niagara County Department of Health reported Wednesday. The Niagara County child was diagnosed in Erie County, where the individual also attended elementary school.

From Feb. 22 through 24, the Niagara University Players will present an entirely student-run production of "Time Stands Still" by Donald Margulies in the Leary Theatre within the Elizabeth Ann Clune Center for Theatre, Clet Hall.

Directed by NU Theater Junior Nathan Andrew Miller, "Time Stands Still" is a funny, passionate, thought-provoking and heartbreaking piece of work. It is a look at war through the lens of a young couple brought together by the conflict in Iraq only to have their relationship challenged by it (the show contains adult subject matter).

Quilts on display

Throughout the month of February, Shoppe On Main will display different quilts created by quilters who got their start at "Martha's Cupboard," the original quilt store in Newfane. Martha Ferguson, along with several other area women, taught the art of hand quilting in the store.
