Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, on Friday, directed New York State Higher Education Services Corporation to grant temporary student loan relief to New Yorkers who were affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Assemblyman John Ceretto applauded Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday for approving a plan that will provide assistance to the City of Niagara Falls to help address budget issues related to an ongoing casino-revenue dispute between New York and the Seneca Nation. Ceretto said Niagara Falls received approximately $18 million a year in casino revenue as a host city before the dispute and is currently owed more than $60 million.

Supplies are being collected at Ceretto's office, located at 1700 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls, on Friday, Nov. 9, and Tuesday, Nov. 13. Collected items will be assembled in Albany and shipped to Staten Island, Queens and Long Island later next week.
