Darien Lake Resort, Western New York's social and entertainment hub, welcomes more than 50,000 visitors from the U.S. and Canada to take part in Kingdom Bound, one of the largest Christian music festivals in the country. The festival takes place from Aug. 1-4 and is a four-day long celebration of freedom, togetherness and the arts.
Lewiston Art Festival returns Aug. 14-15

Lewiston's largest celebration of the arts returns Saturday, Aug. 14, and Sunday, Aug. 15, for its 44th year. The Lewiston Art Festival, a landmark event of the Lewiston Council on the Arts, brings together far more than just area residents. It brings together Western New Yorkers and visitors from Southern Ontario and beyond. It also brings together the visual arts, literature and music in one weekend.
County Health Department West Nile update

Niagara County Department of Health Deputy Director Victoria Pearson reported this week that a pool of mosquitoes in Erie County has tested positive for West Nile Virus, and she reminds all residents in Niagara County to take extra measures to protect themselves from the potentially serious illness.

As preparations continue for the 53rd annual Niagara County Peach Festival, Sept 10-12 at Academy Park in Lewiston, Lewiston Kiwanis organizers report that New York Air National Guard Lt. Col. Patrick Roemer has been named as its general chairman. Lewiston Kiwanis Club President Randy Gorzka made the announcement this week.

Waste Management, parent company of CWM Chemical Services LLC in Porter, announced this week the area recipients to benefit from proceeds of its national charitable golf tournament. The event will be held Sept. 15-16 at the Niagara Falls Country Club. WM reports it expects to raise about $300,000 from this event.
Niagara County physician practices receive $60,000 in funding to convert to electronic medical records

Niagara Family Medicine Associates, a primary care physician group with offices in Niagara Falls and Lewiston, and Dr. Ronald Clark, DO, of Family Medicine in Niagara Falls, are the first Niagara County physician practices to receive funding for the purchase and implementation of an electronic medical record system through a new program administered by HEALTHeLINK, Western New York's clinical information exchange. Funded by BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York, Independent Health and Univera Healthcare, the program is designed to help Western New York physicians acquire and implement EMRs in order to enhance safety and improve clinical quality for their patients.
