ABC Family will present the worldwide premiere of Paramount Famous Productions' "Mean Girls 2," it was announced today by Tom Zappala, executive vice president, program acquisitions and scheduling, abc Cable Networks Group. "Mean Girls 2," the long-awaited follow-up to the 2004 hit film "Mean Girls," will premiere on ABC Family on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The film, which wrapped production in Atlanta in August, is directed by Melanie Mayron, and written by Cliff Ruby and Elana Lesser, and Allison Schroeder.

For the 39th consecutive year, "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2011" will lead America into the New Year. Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest will host the special with recently announced Times Square correspondent Jenny McCarthy. The show will begin at 10 p.m., ET on Friday, Dec. 31, on ABC. Singer/songwriter Fergie of The Black Eyed Peas returns to host the Los Angeles-based party portions of the specials. The Los Angeles lineup includes performances by Jennifer Hudson, Willow Smith, Ne-Yo, Avril Lavigne, Drake, Jason Derulo, La Roux, Mike Posner, Natasha Bedingfield, Far East Movement and Train.

"The Event" is taking a short break following tonight's mid-season finale (9 p.m., NBC). Now that we sort of know what the event is, or at least who was behind the attempt to kill President Elias Martinez (Blair Underwood) and kidnap lovers Sean Walker (Jason Ritter) and Leila Buchanan (Sarah Roemer), the Peacock Network is giving showrunners a little extra time to flesh out the back story.

Historical characters will bring Christmas past alive with 18th and 19th century holiday recipes and portrayals of colonial-era people. The high point of the evening will be a traditional "feu de joie" (firing of joy), a nighttime musket and cannon salute.
