It's summer. And, with summer comes the annual excitement of Artpark's summer-long free concerts. First Niagara presents "Tuesday in the Park." The free concert series gets under way June 15 with popular 1970s funk outfit War.

Pollstar, the Internet's No. 1 concert information site, has ranked the top 20 free summer concerts for the greater Buffalo area. Artpark has eight of the top 10 spots - each an act performing as part of the "Tuesday in the Park" series.

Whether you want to be the next Picasso, Sandra Bullock, or even Elvis Presley, Artpark has a summer camp in store for you. Artpark's week-long children's camps will feature three sessions of Art Camp and one special week of Theater Camp in association with Artpark's 2010 Broadway Musical, and introduces a week of Rock Camp for aspiring rock stars.

Recently, the Village of Lewiston, Artpark & Co., and New York's Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation have discussed the possibility of opening a new exit leading from the performing arts venue to the Robert Moses Parkway south (Niagara Falls). In this scenario, patrons exiting Artpark via Portage Road could turn right on Seneca Street (shown left) and onto the RMP. This new connection, only available during the "Tuesday in the Park" concert series, would be the only way for motorists to access the parkway. Center Street to the RMP would be closed.

While many stories have been written about Artpark in the past year - everything from its status as a state park to its role in allegedly hiding Elvis Costello - at the end of the day it's safe to say most people want to know one thing: Who's headlining Tuesdays?

Mick Jones credits good timing and good luck for his ability to maintain Foreigner through three decades and several line-up changes. But the truth is, the British guitar legend, who says he "cut his teeth" with Led Zeppelin alums John Bonham and John Paul Jones, has maintained the '80s supergroup through determination and talent.
