On Wednesday, the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation announced a $6,000,000 "challenge grant" capital and endowment gift to Explore & More Children's Museum. Local sales tax collection growth accelerated in 2017, according to a report released Monday by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. Collections across the state grew by $620 million, or 3.9 percent, from the previous year, marking the highest year-over-year growth since 2013.

On Tuesday, New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman led a coalition of 22 attorneys general in filing a multistate lawsuit to block what he called the Federal Communications Commission's illegal rollback of net neutrality. The coalition filed a petition for review in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, formally commencing the lawsuit against the FCC and the federal government.

Chris Jacobs, R-60, called on the New York State Department of Labor to rescind its proposed employee scheduling rule citing the "devastating impact" it would have on businesses throughout New York. Jacobs issued his call after the conclusion of a State Senate hearing he co-chaired to help determine the effects of the proposed rule on businesses and employment, as well as economic development efforts across the state.

LeChase Construction has placed the last steel beam onto the top of the $29 million Explore & More Children's Museum at Canalside in downtown Buffalo. A milestone event, called a "topping off" ceremony in the construction industry, was held recently with members of the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp., museum leaders and local schoolchildren to celebrate the occasion.
