The John R. Oishei Foundation has funded a $100,000 grant payable over three years to Niagara Area Habitat for Humanity. The grant will support the "Building Capacity to Strengthen Our Impact" initiative. It will be used to partially fund two AmeriCorps members and a part-time bookkeeper for three years.

Just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, there was a shooting at 19th Street and Welch Avenue. The victim, an 18-year-old Niagara Falls man, was shot several times while sitting in the passenger side of a parked car. The suspect fled on foot.

"Over the course of the last week, the Niagara County Department of Social Services has had approximately a dozen positive test results of DSS employees who work on the second floor of their office on 10th Street in Niagara Falls, with several additional tests still outstanding," Niagara County Manager Rick Updegrove said Monday. "After talking with employees and conducting contact tracing, the Niagara County Health Department has made the determination to quarantine all employees who work on the second floor of that building."
