Congressman Brian Higgins joined a group of 89 members Monday calling on congressional leadership to include funding for the census in the next COVID-19 relief package, accompanied by a necessary extension to census reporting deadlines. The letter follows a recent announcement by the Census Bureau to suddenly end field data collection by Sept. 30.

Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday announced more than $2.3 million has been awarded to support 61 businesses and residential landlords with COVID-19-related costs and expenses through the "New York Forward" loan fund. Of the 61 loans, 54 were provided to minority- and women-owned businesses; 10 loans were provided to residential landlords; two loans were awarded to veteran-owned businesses; and one loan supported a nonprofit organization.

Over a quarter-million taxpayers took advantage of the free tax preparation and filing software available through the Tax Department website, saving New Yorkers more than an estimated $51 million in tax preparer and tax software expenses.

Calspan Technology Holding Corp., the parent company to a group of entities including Buffalo-based aerospace and automotive research company Calspan Corp., announced the acquisition of Aero Systems Engineering Inc. (ASE) in St. Paul, Minnesota. The transaction was effective July 24. The new company will operate as Calspan Aero Systems Engineering Inc. (Calspan ASE).
