Artpark & Company on Wednesday announced Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers with The Wood Brothers will perform on June 19 as part of the "Tuesday in the Park" concert series. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 23.

An event that started in the 1970s was reimagined Saturday as the women of St. Peter R.C. School presented a gala benefit. Once held in the student cafeteria, this year's rendition took place at the new wing of the Niagara Falls Country Club. There, parents, teachers, faculty and members of Rosary Altar Guild Society joined forces to stage a ladies luncheon, mother-daughter fashion show and grand gift and basket raffle, all to raise funds for the Lewiston elementary school.

Dr. Glenda R. Rose, Dr. Thomas G. Barba and the staff of Rose Chiropractic P.C. in Lewiston held the 28th annual "Doctors with a Heart Day" on Saturday, Feb. 10. Chiropractic adjustments, examinations and nutritional testing were exchanged for donations of food collected to benefit the Niagara Community Action Program's food pantry. In total, 1,200 pounds of food were collected - that's over a half-ton!

In honor of Fat Tuesday - and as New Orleans celebrates its 300th anniversary in 2018 - it was announced Feb. 13 that the "Voodoo Threauxdown" headlined by Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, and featuring Galactic, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and New Breed Brass Band, will make its way to Lewiston. The performers will bring their touring street party to Artpark's "Tuesdays in the Park" on Aug. 14.

For the third year in a row, the Battle of the Border brought talent from north of the border in Ontario to Niagara Falls High School to face off against some of the best that Western New York has to offer. Although only three Canadian teams played in this year's classic, the players from Canada represented their side of the border well, winning two of the three games. There were also some familiar faces from last year's battle who returned to the Wolvarena for another bought with an American high school. Here is a full recap from the action on Saturday.

It has been a whirlwind week for 27th Congressional District candidate and Grand Island Supervisor Nate McMurray. On Sunday, he announced his candidacy to a standing-room-only crowd of over 200 at the Brickyard Brewing Company in Lewiston. Voters throughout the district came to support McMurray's effort to unseat incumbent Congressman Chris Collins.

It was a relatively normal day for Buffalo resident Kenneth Lidge as he was nearing the Niagara Falls Airport as a passenger on an Allegiant Airlines flight coming from Tampa to Niagara Falls. Lidge was relaxing in his seat as he returned to Western New York from a cruise.
