On Sunday, Sept. 27, more than 30,000 smartly dressed gentlefolk in over 400 cities will straddle the saddles of their café racers, bobbers, scramblers and other marvelous custom motorcycles to raise awareness and help fund the cure for prostate cancer.

Raintree Island Apartments will host a Krolick's chicken barbecue fundraiser event to benefit Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue from noon to 5 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 26. However, not a single one stayed in the city that produced so many of the attractions -- until 1983, when the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum was born.

The Buffalo Sabres have announced the team will open its training camp on Thursday, Sept. 17, when veteran players are expected to report for testing and physicals. Beginning Friday, Sept. 18, the team's practice sessions at First Niagara Center will be open to the public, with practices being broken down into multiple sessions throughout each day.

The Mighty Niagara Half Marathon has gone global. Runners from countries around the world including England, Ireland, Mexico, Germany, Austria and Ethiopia, will soon travel to Western New York to "run with the river" in this one-of-a-kind race that has grown tremendously since its 2009 inception.
