Roswell Park announces fourth IceCycle event

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center has launched registration for the fourth-annual IceCycle fundraising event, presented by West Herr Automotive Group. This event is bringing together 13 WNY fitness studios and more than 1,000 participants on March 8-9 to take a 45-minute cycling class on ice while raising funds for research and programs at Roswell Park.

The New York State Department of Labor is reminding New Yorkers that unemployment tax forms will be automatically mailed to those who claimed benefits in 2023. The 1099-G provides the total amount of money a customer received in benefits during the year, as well as any adjustments or tax withholding made to those benefits.
New year sees drop in gas prices

Today's national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.10, down 3 cents from last Tuesday. One year ago, the price was $3.22. The New York state average is $3.35, down 3 cents from one week ago. A year ago, the NYS average was $3.40.

'Jolicoeur's Journey' at Old Fort Niagara

On Saturday, Jan. 13, Old Fort Niagara will present a special winter adventure called "Jolicoeur's Journey," an interactive living history program based on the memoirs of Jolicoeur Charles Bonin. The young soldier trekked from Quebec to Fort Niagara in the winter of 1754.

Wilson, Jr. arts and culture initiative awards to support 45 small to mid-sized arts organizations serving the eight counties of Western New York, plus Monroe County, through its competitive grants process. $25 million in capital funding available to support volunteer fire departments

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced $25 million in capital grants is available to help volunteer fire departments across the state upgrade their facilities and equipment. In total, $25 million was secured in the fiscal year 2023-24 state budget for this initiative, along with $10 million to offset the costs of training courses volunteer firefighters are required to complete.
New Niagara County ambulance service now fully operational
