Ransomville Speedway hosted a driver's meeting to officially kick off the 2021 season. Drivers and crew members from the Krown Undercoating Modifieds, Investor's Service Sportsman, Ki-Po Motors Street Stocks, Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks, and the Kevin's Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman were on hand to go over any rule changes and procedures for the 2021 campaign.

On Feb. 6 at 10:14 hours, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting an accident on the sledding hill at the Clyde L. Burmaster Park in the Town of Lewiston. Responding members of the Town of Lewiston Police Department and Niagara County Sheriff's Office located and confirmed two injured parties, a 16-year-old female and a 3-year-old male. The two were apparently riding a sledding tube when they struck a tree at the bottom of the hill.

The Council for Older Adults in Niagara County launched a unique project to document the area's cultural history through food. The COA invited all Niagara County residents to submit traditional family recipes to preserve and commemorate their cultural history and honor their loved ones through the creation of a community cookbook. "A Taste of History: Heritage Recipes from Niagara County" will be available for sale later this year for a nominal fee.

The Board of Education met this past Monday for a lengthy work session. The board began with a briefing on policy updates and review. The BOE policy committee, led by board member Anne Orr, meets monthly to review and recommend new state and federal additions and amendments. In addition, the policy committee reviews each section of the manual annually, to keep the policy manual up-to-date and relevant.

As I closed out 2020 on New Year's Eve with my family (yes, I actually stayed awake past midnight!), I couldn't help but reflect on the year we just put behind us. I thought of how the events of 2020 affected my family and friends, as well as on a larger scope with the Chamber of Commerce and community.

Lewiston Dance Center exudes team spirit. The studio shared its excitement for a Buffalo win during recent class time. The dance studio was a sea of red and blue as dancers came to class Saturday clad in their jerseys and other Bills gear.
