The Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the community at the annual Chamber Gala awards dinner, to be held at Niagara Falls Country Club on Thursday, May 9. The chamber board of directors will present awards for Business of the Year and Citizen of the Year honorees in the Lewiston, Youngstown, Ransomville and Sanborn communities.

Motorists entering the Center Street (Rite Aid) Plaza take note: On Monday, the Village of Lewiston Board voted to switch the Center Street exit from the Stone House side over to the Orange Cat corner. Additionally, trustees agreed to make the entrance both an ingress and egress - thus allowing for two-way traffic at this driveway.

On Friday afternoon, the Town of Porter welcomed staff from U.S. Coast Guard Station Niagara to Porter Town Hall for the presentation of donated items to assist personnel during the government shutdown. Town of Porter Supervisor John "Duffy" Johnston said 300 pounds of food collected from the community over the past week was donated.

Right before Christmas, Empire State Development announced Artpark & Company was the recipient of a $100,000 award from the Western New York Regional Economic Development Council. The money will go toward the creation of a master plan - a road map outlining what Artpark could and should be now and well into the future.

After successfully landing in Academy Park, Santa met with children and families before boarding his special Deal Realty Float. J&J Strassburg Trucking transported the holly-jolly one to the International Peace Garden, where he greeted even more youth.
