Lewiston's first outdoor concert of the summer took place Sunday at Artpark, 450 S. Fourth St. Emerald Grove was the site of the debut of Artpark & Company's "New Music in the Park."

The Lewiston Council on the Arts and the Lewiston Public Library have teamed up to present a new offering, called "Bug Fest." It will take place in Seneca "Bug" Park, adjacent to the library on South Eighth St., from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, July 10. LCA said the event will feature "lots of cool, bug-themed programs for children of all ages."

The Historical Association of Lewiston has published a new hardcover book titled "The Gully Treasure". The book details several aspects of treasure lost during the French and Indian War and how it may have ended up in Lewiston. It was written by local author Lee Simonson and is formatted as a letter to his grandson.

Multi-Platinum band Barenaked Ladies will return to Artpark in Lewiston to headline a "Tuesdays in the Park" concert on July 5, 2022. The show was originally scheduled for the summers of 2020 and 2021, but was delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The Niagara Power Project has a new executive in charge of its operations following the appointment by the New York Power Authority of Daniella Piper to regional manager of Western New York - the top position at NYPA's flagship hydroelectric project in Lewiston. Piper previously served as chief of staff for NYPA President and CEO Gil C. Quiniones and vice president of NYPA's digital transformation office.

Lewiston Town Board members began the process Monday of getting the town's now-paused recreational programs restarted for 2021. Included was approval for Recreation Director Mike Dashineau to fill a part-time recreation clerk/typist position currently unfilled, and to begin planning for the town's youth baseball and softball programs, as well as the anticipated hiring of a recreational leader and rec program aides.

Niagara County Public Health Director Daniel J. Stapleton on Wednesday said moderate- and higher-risk sports in Niagara County may proceed in accordance with New York state guidelines. Last Friday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the decision on whether these sports could start back up would be made by each county's health director.
