Following a leadoff public hearing that drew favorable comments, the Lewiston Town Board moved to approve the site plan design/special use permit documents for a solar facility proposed by Borrego Solar Systems on the grounds of the Sanborn Farm Museum at 2660 Saunders Settlement Road.

At 832 Ridge Road sits a house with history that predates its construction. The first known structure built on this spot was made by Joseph Brant, a Mohawk chief, and his tribe. It was the site of their camp, and later the cabin of Brant.

Compiling "The Best of Doug Smith" was a labor of love for his son, whose appreciation for his dad's life's 68-year journalism career grew as the collection, itself, grew.

Volunteers with the Historical Association of Lewiston hosted a drive-thru Chiavetta's chicken barbecue fundraiser on Saturday at the Town of Lewiston Town Hall parking lot. They were joined by elected and local business leaders. Dinners were just about sold-out when these photos were taken.

Highway Superintendent Richard Crawford said individuals, families and other groups are welcome to participate in Grand Island's celebration of Earth Day. The event is being organized by a partnership, which includes the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club, and the Niagara River Greenway Commission.

The Grand Island Town Board set a number of public hearings for upcoming meetings at its April 18 Grand Island Town Board meeting. These include public hearings on preliminary plat approvals for five sections of the Southpointe development, which is bordered by Staley Road to the north, Love Road to the south, Baseline Road to the west and the I-190/South State Parkway to the east on Grand Island.
