At the Village of Youngstown organizational meeting Thursday evening, Tim Lockhart and Stephen Zastrow were sworn into office. Lockhart is taking on another term as deputy mayor. Zastrow, meanwhile, replaces Steven Suitor, whose second term ended after he held the trustee position for eight years.

The Village of Lewiston Board of Trustees appointed people to its new stand-alone Historic Preservation Commission at Tuesday's year-end meeting. Each person will serve for a different period of time, as the village codebook has a provision for rotating members on and off the HPC.

Joining nearly 1,500 Western New Yorkers of all ages, we ended a wonderful Memorial Day weekend in spectacular fashion by participating in the weekly Slow Roll Buffalo 10-mile bike tour of city neighborhoods. Held each Monday, these free rides are open to everyone of all ages and all skill levels who are riding every type of bicycle.

Roughly 350 seniors from across Niagara County took part in the 16th annual Niagara County Senior Walk in the Park Thursday at Veterans Memorial Community Park in the Town of Niagara. The free event offered seniors, 55 and up, a choice of four walking courses, each of them a different distance.
