Grand Island Fire Co. Call Summary for Sept. 26, 2014

The following incidents occurred from Sept. 8 to 21, as reported by the Grand Island Fire Co. A total of 62 calls were answered by the department during this period. The GIFC has now responded to 1,097 calls so far this year. At the same date a year ago, the GIFC had responded to 1,042 calls.

On Thursday, Sept. 25, about 20 minutes past midnight, Niagara County Communications received a 911 call from the clerk at 7-11, 6880 Plaza Drive, Wheatfield, reporting that she had just been robbed by a white male wearing a red sweatshirt that was turned inside out. He also displayed a knife.

Town of Niagara: Tentative budget released

The Town of Niagara distributed its $8.2 million tentative budget for 2015 Wednesday night at Town Hall. It announced a 41-cent per $1,000 of assessed valuation tax increase for homesteads, and a 55-cent per $1,000 of assessed valuation increase for non-homestead properties.
