Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has announced the rollout of "K-Solar," a landmark program under the $1 billion "NY-Sun" initiative, to help public school districts throughout New York lower their energy costs with clean, local power. The program will provide schools with the tools, technical expertise and access to financing to make solar a realistic and affordable option for K-12 schools.
To date, a total of 40 school districts have registered to participate in the program, representing nearly 200 schools in communities across the state.

NBC Sports Group's "Sunday Night Football" bus returns this season to travel the country, visiting the host cities of all 17 "SNF" games, the "NFL Kickoff" game in Seattle, and NBC's Wild Card and Divisional Playoff games. Heart of Niagara rescues Sadie and Sally, beagle sisters, have brought a whole new meaning to the phrase "pay it forward." They recently returned home to Western New York from a 2,400-mile four-day journey, where they visited the very place from where they were rescued last year, to help bring more of their furry friends home to the safety of this area.

Joe Azbell retired as assistant director from Niagara Cerebral Palsy in 1999. But for the past two summers, he and his wife, Carol, have spent a couple of hours each week on their hands and knees pulling weeds in the agency's Children's Memorial Garden at 9812 Lockport Road.
