The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency board of directors approved applications for assistance from Praxair Inc., Niagara Lodging Inc. and Niagara Falls Hospitality Inc. (Microtel) at its board meeting.
"The manufacturing base in the City of Niagara Falls is critically important to the local and regional economy, and retaining good paying manufacturing jobs is a high priority of our agency," said Henry M. Sloma, chairman of the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency. "In this instance, Praxair is making a significant capital investment that not only retains jobs, but creates new jobs. But just as importantly, this investment shows that the company is making a long term commitment to maintain its operations in Niagara Falls."

The CBS Television Network will begin its 55th year of broadcasting the NFL with Jim Nantz, Phil Simms and Tracy Wolfson leading "The NFL on CBS" into the network's 2014 NFL season. Nantz, Simms and Wolfson will call the full slate of "Thursday Night Football" games on CBS and the NFL Network, along with selected Sunday games on CBS.

The Buffalo Sabres have announced the team will hold its annual summer development camp from July 14-18 at First Niagara Center. This will mark the third year in a row the ice will be installed during the summer and the development camp will be held at the home of the Sabres.

The Peacemaker makes its return to Canalside this week following last September's successful Buffalo Maritime Festival. Public tours of the 140-foot barquentine will be available this weekend.
The Peacemaker is an American barquentine owned by the Twelve Tribes.

For 2014, PubFest has a new name - the Latitude 43 Music Festival - and a new venue - Artpark.

The Lewiston town clerk's office informs that Niagara County has put the call for its incorporated municipalities to enlist public participation in a local hazard mitigation plan update. The plan is part of a federal requirement to identify hazards within the county and to explore means to reduce the risks and vulnerabilities to those hazards.
