With the Quasar controversy, the Wheatfield Town Board has grown used to crowds of residents in the meeting room lining up to protest. But at Monday's Town Board meeting, a new, surprisingly large group showed up to peck down a proposed ordinance on the keeping of fowl in residential areas.

Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-C-I-Lewiston, will host Julie Otto and Monica Daigler in Albany on Monday. They will arrive to support labeling legislation sponsored by Ceretto that would require food products produced from fertilizer made with sewage sludge (biosolids) to be labeled accordingly.

One hundred sixty golfers journeyed to the Niagara Falls Country Club for the 23rd annual Niagara Cup Classic golf tournament. The event raised more than $45,000, which will support health care programming at the hospital - particularly cardiac and stroke services.

After 32 years, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office continues to actively investigate this missing person case.

A coalition of 16 mayors from across the state has endorsed Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman's Abandoned Property Neighborhood Relief Act and called on legislative leaders - Senate co-Leaders Sens. Dean Skelos and Jeff Klein, and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver - to bring the bill to the floor for a vote. The legislation would provide support to communities that have been plagued by vacant and abandoned properties.

Empire State Development has announced New York is generating another record-breaking year for television production in the state just five months into 2014. A total of 23 pilots have filmed in New York, yielding an estimated $127 million in spending and an estimated 15,915 jobs, compared to 23 pilots filmed with an estimated $117 million in spending and an estimated 13,150 jobs in all of 2013.

Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman today announced his office will sponsor a gun buyback in Niagara Falls on Saturday, June 7, as part of his statewide gun-buyback program. The attorney general's office will accept working and non-working, unloaded firearms in exchange for compensation on site.
