NCBA 2014 Parade of Homes show approaches

The Niagara County Builders Association reports planning is underway for the 2014 Parade of Homes show, to take place on three weekends in May and June in Niagara and Erie counties. The show will open the weekend of May 24-25, and continue May 31-June 1 and June 7-8.
Pat LaFontaine resigns position with Buffalo Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres announced late Saturday Pat LaFontaine resigned his position with the team to resume his previous role with the National Hockey League.

"I would like to thank Pat for all he has done for the organization," said Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula. "Pat joined us at a very difficult time and helped transition the organization down a new path. Tim Murray will continue as general manager and Craig Patrick will continue as a senior hockey adviser. As has been the case since I bought the team, we'll continue to do whatever is needed to rebuild the organization and keep it on path towards our ultimate goal of winning the Stanley Cup."

NBC's "The Voice" is the top-rated singing competition on television and well-liked by critics. But if there's one criticism the show gets before each cycle, it's that the show has yet to produce a mega star.

That could change this season thanks to "Voice" standouts Christina Grimmie and Bria Kelly.

Despite some rumors to the contrary heard over the past week around Lewiston, the Lewiston Town Board acted in a spirit of cooperation and uniformity Monday when they moved to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of member Ernest Palmer. It was announced the Lewiston Town Clerk's office would be taking letters of interest and applications from town residents for the position up to March 5.

NYPA to develop energy master plan for City of Buffalo

The New York Power Authority Thursday announced work is underway on an energy master plan for the City of Buffalo to reduce overall energy costs and carbon emissions, advance energy sustainability, and support green industries and jobs. In addition, a new page on the NYPA website has been created to solicit ideas from the public and present details about the master plan process.

The energy master plan being undertaken in partnership with the City of Buffalo is one of five such plans NYPA is spearheading for New York municipalities. The other cities are Albany, Rochester, Syracuse and Yonkers.
