Live in Los Angeles, Wednesday, Jan. 8 (9 p.m.), on the CBS Television Network. Hosted by Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs, the live show will feature previously announced performances by Sara Bareilles, OneRepublic and Brad Paisley.

On Monday, Jan. 20, The Western New York Regional Volunteer Center, in partnership with The Service Collaborative of Western New York Inc. and United Way of Buffalo & Erie County, will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with the Village of Hamburg and the Food Bank of Western New York. AmeriCorps members, students and community volunteers will mobilize to turn Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life and teachings into community action.

New York's retailers used deep discounts, extended hours, and heavy promotions to attract shoppers during the 2013 holiday shopping season, mustering an increase in sales volume of some 3-to-4 percent over a similar time period in 2012.
Merchants surveyed by the Retail Council gave the season an average letter grade of B-minus.
"It's hard work," said Retail Council President and CEO Jim Sherin. "The competition gets tougher year after year. Retailers of every size have to be quick on their feet to respond to consumer trends that shift at unprecedented pace."

"The NFL on CBS' " broadcast of the AFC Wild Card Playoff game featuring the San Diego Chargers' win over the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday (1:06-4:20 p.m.) was seen by an average of 30.9 million viewers (Persons 2+), which is the highest viewership in 19 years for an early Sunday AFC Wild Card game (31.6 M; New England-Cleveland; 1/1/95; NBC), and is up 4 percent from last year's 29.6 million (Indianapolis-Baltimore).

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo declared a state of emergency Monday as a major winter storm has moved from the Midwest into Western New York and the Tug Hill Plateau region of the state. The state of emergency covers the following counties: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Jefferson, Lewis, Livingston, Monroe, Oneida, Orleans, Oswego, Wayne and Wyoming.
These actions were taken due to a severe winter weather event that is forecast to include 36 inches of snow, lake effect snows in some areas up to four inches per hour, wind gusts up to 40 mph, and wind chill temperatures as low as 40 degrees below zero.

Starting the new year with additional unit growth, Sonic Drive-In has announced expansion plans in the state of New York with a franchise agreement bringing eight new drive-ins to Buffalo within the next six years. The nation's largest chain of drive-in restaurants has reached an agreement with Kevin DiPirro to develop these locations, with the first planned to open in the spring of 2015. The eight drive-in locations will extend throughout Niagara and Erie counties.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has announced details of a more than $2 billion tax relief proposal designed to increase economic opportunity and attract and grow businesses across the state. He said today's proposals are the next major step in New York's continued transformation to a more affordable state for businesses and families.
"Over the past three years, we have made unprecedented progress toward curbing the rise of taxes and government spending in New York, transforming a state budget with a $10 billion deficit to a $2 billion surplus," Cuomo said.
