Tickets now on sale for 2013 Lewiston Tour of Homes

The Historical Association of Lewiston has announced tickets are now on sale for the ninth annual Tour of Homes, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7 and 8, at select addresses in the Lewiston area.
One fish in Niagara River from Sargasso Sea

This is a story I said I was going to tell readers about earlier this year. The Sargasso Sea is a region of calm water somewhere near the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, off our east coast. The Gulf Stream touches the edge of the Sargasso. It is recognized by its deep blue color and by the seaweed and other non-biodegradable junk that floats at its top.

The opening of a new family business on Grand Island has caused something of a stir in the local business community. The new Butcher Shop and Deli, which is operated by the Cippulliti brothers on Grand Island Boulevard, also involves two other brothers and the boys' mother.

The Town of Lewiston Recreation Department reports it is now taking applications for rentals at the Lewiston Family Ice Rink for December and January of this winter. "Days available are very limited. Rentals can be used for any type of party or approved ice activity, including birthday parties," said Mike Dashineau, town parks and recreation director.
