The American Bus Association recently announced the Lewiston Jazz Festival was named as one of the "2014 Top 100 Events in North America." The Top 100 Events, published in the September/October issue of Destinations magazine, said the Lewiston Jazz Festival offers entertainment appealing to tour groups and travelers from around the world.

More than $8 million in grants will support research to aid the long-term recovery in areas hard hit by Hurricane Sandy in October 2012. The grants represent the first time the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has funded research needed by local communities to support long-term recovery efforts.

George Eastman House will honor Academy Award winner Roger Corman with the 68th George Eastman Award, the museum's highest honor in motion pictures, on Saturday, Nov. 2. Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-C-I-Lewiston, is applauding Tuesday's signing of the 2 percent agricultural assessment cap approved by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. This legislation, which Ceretto voted to pass in June, caps agricultural assessments at 2 percent, which will help reduce costs for New York's family farms.
