Food Network follows Mississippi barbecue clan in new series 'The Shed'

Food Network introduces the (unofficial) "First Family" of Mississippi and barbecue royalty in the new series "The Shed," premiering Monday, Aug. 5, at 10 p.m. The six-episode series chronicles the exploits of the Orrison clan, founders of The Shed, one of the most popular barbecue joints in Mississippi.
Grisanti, animal advocates to call on Gov. Cuomo to sign 'Puppy Mill Bill'

State Sen. Mark Grisanti, R-I-60, will hold a press conference at the SPCA on Ensminger Road in Tonawanda to urge Gov. Andrew Cuomo to sign Bill S.3753 into law. This would hand regulation of pet handlers and breeders from the state over to municipalities, in an effort to hinder rampant abusive pet breeding and holding techniques.

George Osborne, president of the performing arts venue, dedicated the eight-show run to Brother Augustine Towey, C.M., the visionary leader of Western New York's theater community who passed away last Thanksgiving.
This year's Goochfest returns home for a dear friend

Jesse Gooch first hosted Goochfest in 1995 as a neighborhood attraction with live music and a comfortable party atmosphere among friends and neighbors.

Since 2006, the party's attendance has expanded into an annual charity event. Each year, Gooch has selected a charity to which he donates ticket sales and other proceeds.

Eventually, Goochfest's attendance and popularity grew to such an extent that Gooch's Wheatfield back yard simply couldn't hold all in attendance, and so the decision was made to relocate the party to the Lions Club.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has announced that, through the Buffalo Billion initiative, a new post-production, visual effects and animation company will be established at the landmark Tri-Main Center in Buffalo. Empire Visual Effects, which will partner with Daemen College, has pledged to create 150 new visual effects and other post-production jobs within five years - jobs that will pave the way for the creation of a new post-production and visual effects industry in Western New York.
