DEC announces new record set for brook trout

Rick Beauchamp, of Mayfield, Fulton County, is the new holder of the state record for brook trout after catching a six-pound, 22.5-inch brook trout in Silver Lake on May 16, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation announced Thursday.

Mark Grisanti, R-I- Buffalo, and New York State Assemblyman Sean Ryan, D-WF-Buffalo, announced Wednesday that legislation they sponsored in the Senate and Assembly has passed and been signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The legislation (S2075, A836) adds Scajaquada Creek to the state list that defines inland waterways.
