DEC releases spruce grouse recovery plan

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has adopted a spruce grouse recovery plan to enhance and restore spruce grouse populations in New York State, DEC Commissioner Joe Martens announced Friday. The final spruce grouse recovery plan is now available on DEC's website at http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/89794.html.
SBA Hurricane Sandy loan approvals surpass $2 billion

Request for qualifications issued for redevelopment of former Rainbow Centre Mall in Niagara Falls

Empire State Development has announced that its Niagara Falls subsidiary, USA Niagara Development Corp., is issuing a request for qualifications from prospective development teams to undertake an adaptive reuse and redevelopment of approximately 200,000 square feet in the former Rainbow Centre Mall located in downtown Niagara Falls.

"This is a great opportunity for a developer to capitalize on what is a considerable amount of unmet demand in Niagara Falls and build on the recent nearby successes like the opening of the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute," said Empire State Development's Kenneth Adams.

Researchers at Roswell Park Cancer Institute have found that a new formulation of a promising anticancer agent, the small chemical molecule FL118, is even more effective in controlling two types of cancer than a version reported in PLOS ONE six months earlier proved to be.
