Graduation safety: Talk to your kids

It's graduation time across the country. Young people are exuberant and celebrating. But, every year, tragedy involving teens and alcohol peak during the graduation season. The Professional Insurance Agents of New York State Inc. warns that more than 3,500 teens are killed and another 85,000 are injured each year in car crashes involving alcohol.

Red Cross-certified babysitting class offered

The Town of Lewiston Recreation Department announces it will be offering a Red Cross-certified babysitting class this summer. The class is open to boys and girls ages 11 and up. It will be held on Friday, July 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lewiston Town Hall.

Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston announced Thursday that Assembly bill 10227-A passed and now awaits action in the State Senate. The measure, sponsored by Ceretto, would allow injured Niagara Falls firefighter Richard E. Mylchreest to retire. Mylchreest was hurt in the line of duty and is receiving disability assistance as a result.
