Healing service in Wheatfield

Anyone in need of healing or prayer is invited to attend a healing service at 7 p.m. Friday, April 20, at Wheatfield Community Church, 3571 Niagara Falls Blvd. in Meadowbrook Square Plaza. Individual as well as group prayer for healing will be available.

Trustees in the Village of Lewiston expect to adopt a budget for 2012-13 during their monthly board meeting in May. Barring any last-minute changes, the tax rate is expected to remain at $7.12 per $1,000 of assessed valuation.
Ceretto bill would solve impasse between state, tribe

Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, announced Wednesday that he is sponsoring Assembly bill 9284 (A.9284/ S.00866B-Giglio/Young), legislation which would authorize municipal governments hosting tribal casinos to receive payments directly from these Native American groups, which would break a long-held impasse between the Seneca Nation and New York state.

Niagara County Industrial Development Agency accepts application for assistance from new owners of AES

At the request of various taxing jurisdictions, including the Town of Somerset, the Barker School District and Niagara County, the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency board of directors has voted to accept an application for assistance from the bondholders of AES Somerset for a modification of a payment in lieu of taxes for the power plant.

Assemblyman John D. Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, today praised the formation of the Niagara Falls City Council's "ad hoc" committee. The committee was formed to develop a strategy for the city to obtain funds from the Seneca Gaming compact. Funds have not been delivered to the city during a period of legal action between New York state and the Seneca Nation of Indians.
